1a) Exam technique- revision strategies
This presentation takes pupils through a range of strategies aimed at helping with revision. It includes shortening notes, using mind maps, using acronyms and phrases and other good ideas to help maximise quality of revision.
1b) Exam technique- linkage
This presentation focusses on linkage in answers, a vital ingredient if pupils are to succeed. It shows pupils examples of answers with and without linkage.
1c) Exam technique- comparing and contrasting
This presentation focusses on the skill of comparing and contrasting during examinations. The skill is often poorly executed and this presentation shows pupils the key words required in order to succeed.
1d) Exam technique- describing and explaining
This presentation shows pupils the difference between describing and explaining, with some geographical examples and an example that will be easy to commit to memory.
1e) Exam technique- OS Maps
This presentation looks at the skills required to suceed when using OS Maps in an examination. It particularly focusses on the comparison of relief and land use in grid squares, an exam board favourite.
2a) Map skills- grid references presentation
This presentation takes a look at 4 and 6 figure grid references and breaks them down into simple steps for pupils to understand.
2b) Map skills- grid references linking lines game
In this game pupils need to draw lines connecting the correct grid reference to the correct point on the map. There are reset and mark buttons at the bottom to help.
2c) Map skills- grid references game
This game requires pupils to simply click the symbol that corresponds to the grid reference at the top of the page. It provides good revsion of 6 figure grid references.
2d) Map skills- height on maps
This presentation shows pupils the basics when it comes to interpreting height on maps, before looking at height on OS maps in more detail.
